Ad-interim appointees are officials appointed by the president while Congress is in recess, allowing them to immediately assume office without waiting for confirmation by the CA.

Once it resumes in session, the CA will evaluate the appointees’ qualifications, integrity, competence and fitness for their positions as part of the confirmation process.

If the CA’s committee finds an appointee qualified, it recommends confirmation to the CA’s plenary, which makes the final decision.

Acting officials, on the other hand, temporarily perform the duties of a position, without necessarily holding a permanent appointment. /apl
