ESPN’s Jordan Reid has 6 Notre Dame players as NFL draft prospects

ESPN college football analyst Jordan Reid recently released his top-50 prospects for the 2027 NFL draft with plenty of Notre Dame players on his list.

Reid has a total of six Irish players as first two round selections, including two within the top-25 for the US LBM Coaches Poll No. 3 Fighting Irish.

Cornerback Leonard Moore is projected as the No. 2 overall draft pick, according to Reid. Through four games, Moore has seven tackles, two pass deflections and quarterbacks have a 0% completion percentage around the star defensive back.

Reid noted in his scouting report of the 6-foot-2, 197-pound Moore that the cornerback brings "excellent length, speed and technique."

"Moore is the prototypical cornerback prospect," Reid said. "His length and physicality allow him to excel when getting hands on receivers in press man coverage. He also has the awareness to identify and defend route concepts in zone coverage. Moore has the ball skills to match receivers, routinely tracking and attacking the ball out of the air. But he needs to improve his discipline and hand timing at the top of routes."

QB CJ Carr comes in at No. 22 in Reid's draft projections. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 215-pound star signal caller is a "refined pocket passer whose eyes, feet and throwing motion are always in cohesion," Reid said.

Carr has completed 70.5% of his passes, for 963 yards, nine touchdowns and an interception so far this season. He also has two rushing scores.

"With an easy throwing motion, he is a decisive passer who trusts his eyes to pick apart defenses," Reid said. "He has a great feel for the types of passes that are needed, putting enough touch or velocity on them. And he is routinely in control at the line of scrimmage with protections and when calling audibles."

Reid noted the one thing that might keep Carr from being a higher draft pick is his "average" overall arm strength and velocity.

"And he sometimes creates chaotic negative losses trying to make a positive play instead of moving on to the next play," Reid added.

Reid has safety Brauntae Johnson at No. 26, despite having an injury-riddled season so far and appearing in just one game.

Also listed are edge rusher Boubacar Traore, linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and guard Anthony Knapp in the No. 47 through No. 49 slots.

Traore has nine tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for the Irish. Viliamu-Asa has racked up 10 tackles (1.5 for loss) and a fumble recovery so far.

Knapp, through 230 snaps, has a 0.9% pressure rate allowed and a blown run block rate.
