India’s probable playing XI for 1st ODI vs West Indies: Will Auqib Nabi get his debut cap?

India will host West Indies for three ODIs starting Sunday at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

With few of India’s ODI starters away on Asian Games duty, the Shubman Gill-led side will have to fill in the gaps in the next three games.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are back for the international in the only format they play now. Jasprit Bumrah, however, is in Japan. Hardik Pandya is still not available due to injury.

With Shreyas Iyer also not there, India is likely to play Ruturaj Gaikwad at number four. KL Rahul will handle the wicketkeeping duties and is expected to stick to play at number five position.

India also has Dhruv Jurel and Naman Dhir at its disposal in the middle order role. However, the duo is likely to sit out at least for the first game.

Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy are most likely to fill in the all-rounders’ spot. However, it would be interesting to see whether India will play Gurnoor Brar at number eight or hand Auqib Nabi his ODI debut.

Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna are the likely bowlers India could in with.
