SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — The Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (INEC) has traced reports of fluctuating electricity supply in the province to low voltage delivery from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

In an advisory Friday (Nov. 6), INEC stated that its investigation of power lines and electrical systems found the fluctuations were caused by low voltage delivery from NGCP.

According to NGCP, the low voltage condition was triggered by the rapid increase in the megawatt (MW) output of renewable energy companies operating in the Ilocos region.

INEC General Manager Cipriano “Perry” Martinez III raised the issue with NGCP, expressing concern over the voltage fluctuations and their impact on the cooperative’s ability to provide reliable electricity service to its franchise area.

According to INEC, it is coordinating with NGCP to address the issue and ensure the immediate stabilization of voltage delivery.

The cooperative assured consumers that it is working with the grid operator to restore stable electricity supply across the province. /jpv
