‘Doctor Who’ Star Noel Clarke Pleads Not Guilty to Sexual Assault, Voyeurism, Exposure

Doctor Who star Noel Clarke has pleaded not guilty to multiple sex offenses at Westminster Magistrates Court in London on Wednesday.

The British actor best known for playing Mickey Smith, boyfriend to Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler, on the BBC show from 2005 to 2010, was charged last month after detectives received “a file of evidence.”

The 50-year-old faces two charges of sexual assault, three charges of voyeurism and one charge of exposure. Voyeurism refers to when someone secretly watches, photographs or films another person without their consent for sexual gratification. The offenses, said the Met Police, are alleged to have taken place between 2007 and 2016 and relate to five women.

It comes five years after a Guardian exposé published claims from 20 women accusing Clarke of groping, sexual misconduct and bullying, as well as sources alleging they were “sexually harassed or inappropriately” touched on the set of Doctor Who. ITV, Sky and CAA cut ties with the actor soon after, and BAFTA rescinded his Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award.

He “vehemently” denied the claims at the time, and in 2025 lost a libel case against the Guardian over the report. Over a dozen women testified against Clarke, and he was ordered to pay £3 million ($4m) toward the outlet’s legal costs.

The most recent charges follow an investigation by detectives that began in September 2025. A man, then in his 40s, was arrested in connection with the investigation that same month. Police were photographed at the time leaving Clarke’s house with boxes.
