Netflix, Sega to Produce Live-Action Films for Crazy Taxi, Stranger Than Heaven Games; New Animated Children's Series for Sonic the Hedgehog
Dan Gregor and Doug Mand (Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers film, The Naked Gun reboot) are writing the script for the live-action comedy film for Crazy Taxi. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher (Sonic the Hedgehog films) are producing the film with Sega's Toru Nakahara.
Carlos Stevens (Love, Death + Robots) and Nakahara are producing the new children's animated series for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The new show is targeted towards upper preschoolers.
Nakahara is also serving as producer for the live-action crime film for Stranger Than Heaven.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour (pictured right), a new entry in its racing game series, will launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in 2027.
The Sonic Prime animated series debuted on Netflix in December 2025 with one 40-minute episode and seven 20-minute episodes. Netflix streamed the third season in January 2024.
Sega will release Ryu ga Gotoku Studio's Stranger Than Heaven game (previously codenamed "Project Century") on January 15 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
