Benjamin Fredrick Lead Returning Players To Super Eagles Squad For AFCON Qualifiers

Translate

Brentford defender Benjamin Fredrick tops the list of players who are returning to the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers games against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Fredrick returned to competive football from an 8 months injury lay off two weeks ago when he played for the U21s, and he was also on for another duration a few days ago for the same team building his level towards his first senior appearance for the team.

He will be a part of the team for the games, making his return to the team for the first time since November 2025. It’s the same for Ola Aina of Nottingham Forest who missed out on the AFCON after picking up an injury in the world cup qualifiers last year.

Another player who is back in the fold is goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who is back at Chippa United and has been out of the team since the AFCON. He returns to face strong competition from the duo of Maduka Okoye and Arthur Okonkwo.

The duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi are also on the provisional list of players, but will have to wait for the final 30 man list to be certain of their return to the team.
