Police nab 17 suspected human traffickers

The Nigeria Police Force has said 17 Cameroonian nationals in Benue who were suspected to be involved in human trafficking have been arrested.
The NPF disclosed this in a statement posted by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, on its official X page, on Saturday.
The statement read, “Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested 17 Cameroonian nationals suspected to be involved in clandestine activities.
“The suspects entered the country without valid travel documents and are in custody while investigation continues.”
The police further disclosed that the case is currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Markurdi, Benue State.

In a separate case in Cross River State, an 11-year-old boy who was abducted was rescued by the police.
“Police operatives rescued an 11-year-old boy who was abducted and found tied up inside the suspect’s room with head injuries. The suspect, Abashi John, 29, was arrested and taken into custody for investigation,” the statement said.
In another case in Ogun State, a Chinese national and his manager were allegedly kidnapped and later rescued.
The statement added, “Police tactical teams responded to a kidnapping incident at Erimobi Site, Saapade, where six armed men abducted Liyuan Xiao (Chinese national) and his manager, Sunday.
“Expended AK-47 ammunition shells were recovered at the scene; combined tactical teams are combing the bushes to rescue the victims unhurt and arrest the bandits.”
