EastEnders airs horrific Craig Ingram twist for Amy Mitchell in early BBC iPlayer release

Translate

Amy Mitchell has discovered that the grass is not always greener on the other side in EastEnders.

The teen grew close to former copper Craig Ingram (Matthew James-Bailey) amid her step-mum Denise Fox's (Diane Parish) battle with acute myeloid leukaemia battle. He discovered that she was the one who attacked Joel Marshall (Max Murray), and used these vulnerabilities to groom her.

A number of weeks ago, we discovered that Craig had been suspended from his job at Walford Police Station due to a previous complaint that had been lodged against him.

He later told Amy that he'd lost his job because they'd found out about his lies. Upon discovering nude photos of her ex-boyfriend Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) on her phone, having asked her to prove loyalty to their relationship by handing over her phone.

Craig blackmailed poor Denzel into handing over £1,000, but then decided to still send the pictures to his family.

Next came a plan to flee Walford. Amy knew that she had £100,000 inheritance sitting in a bank account until she turned 21, and asked trustee Max Branning (Jake Wood) to help her retrieve it, under the pretence that she was using it for university.

He knew that she was lying, but given his own dire financial situation, agreed on the condition that she gave him half. Max then planned to divulge Amy's romance with Craig to her dad Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) - but before he could intervene, they left.

Amy and Craig have since moved into a grotty bedsit while Jack has launched a personal investigation to track them down. Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky) agreed to help, though in today's episode, it became clear that they were beginning to harbour the police's search.

During a chat with Lily Slater (Lillia Turner), Sean discovered that Amy had used her daughter Charli's tablet to create a new bank account. This information was passed on to the police, though they wouldn't tell Jack whether or not the account would be closed.

Later that day, Craig told Amy that his contact had managed to get them fake ID to leave the country, though he needed to send over some cryptocurrency first. When he tried to access the bank account, he discovered that it had been frozen.

A mortified Amy tried to think of a backup plan, though Craig suddenly snapped and slapped her across the face.

Will Amy find a way to return to Walford?
