Coronation Street lines up prison shock for Summer's new romance

Coronation Street airs a huge curveball for Summer Spellman's new romance next week, as troublesome Marco Rhodes has another run-in with the law.

Despite everyone trying to warn her off Marco, Summer insists it's a big misunderstanding – but is she being taken for a mug?

"No-one deserves a bit of happiness more than Summer," explains our Corrie insider.

"Marco seems like a nice boy, but he's already been in trouble with the police – and now he's about to be thrown in prison! Is he really the right choice of man for lonely Summer?"

Summer is stunned when she hears that Marco has been involved in a car accident. She dashes off to A&E, where she's told the full story by the cops – Marco was actually the getaway driver for a crime that was being committed, and he crashed the car.

Digesting the development, upset Summer feels deflated. The seriousness of the situation means Marco has been denied bail and is now behind bars.

Asha Alahan, Todd Grimshaw and Alya Nazir comfort Summer and tell her she's better off without Marco, seeing him as a loser who isn't worth her time.

Instead of agreeing with them, Summer is affronted as she clearly believes Marco is innocent!

"A few days later Summer receives a visiting order from Marco," reveals our spy. "Todd is deeply concerned, but Summer insists on going to see him to hear his side of the story. Not wanting to push her away by disagreeing with her, Todd reluctantly offers to give her a lift…"

Will Summer live to regret sticking by Marco? And can he really be trusted?

Summer's new story started earlier this month when Marco cheekily stole a piece of her artwork and put it on display at the tattoo parlour.

When Summer confronted Marco and accused him of theft, he revealed that it had all been a ploy so that he'd see her again.

Despite some early reservations, Summer decided that it was worth persisting with Marco – but how many chances can she really give him?
