Asian Games 2026: P.V. Sindhu beats Tomoka Miyazaki to enter women’s singles quarterfinal

India’s P.V. Sindhu beat Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki in straight games to enter the quarterfinal of the Asian Games 2026 women’s singles badminton event at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium on Saturday.

Sindhu will meet China’s Chen Yufei, who is ranked fourth in the world, in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

The Indian shuttler maintained a comfortable lead from the get go and went on to win the opening game 21-9.

Miyazaki briefly took the lead at the start of the second game but Sindhu won the lead back with thumping crosscourt smashes. The Indian shuttler went on to win the game 21-13.

Earlier in the day, Sindhu had beaten Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Pin-chian in the Round of 32.
