Why I took break from music — Kizz Daniel

Nigerian Afrobeats star Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, better known as Kizz Daniel, has disclosed that the recent break in his music activities was due to the death of his mother earlier this year.

Daniel noted that the break was not because he was working on a new album.

The singer, also known as Vado D’Great, made the revelation on Friday in a reply to a fan on X.

The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had written, “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”

Kizz Daniel responded, “I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year , but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year.”

The post attracted reactions from fans, many of whom offered condolences and prayers for his late mother and his family.

Among those who reacted was @Segunthomas9, who wrote, “May her soul rest in peace, mother’s love is the best.”

Another user, @30bgsoldier8643, wrote, “Sorry brother accept my condolences brother be strong i really missed your sound.”

“Damn, that must be tough. May her soul rest in peace,” @rhidozi_ wrote.

Another fan, @mynameisnottobi, shared a personal message, writing, “sending love your way. Big Vado, Mummy is sick; I pray I don’t lose her. She’s all i got. I dey imagine how you go dey feel omo love and light your way vadoo.”

Other fans also expressed sympathy, with @faajikorrect writing, “So so sorry man, may mummy soul rest in peace with the LORD. Amen.”

Kizz Daniel, known for songs such as “Woju” and “Buga,” has previously spoken about personal losses, including the death of his father in 2015 and one of his triplets in 2021.

In a 2025 interview, the singer also disclosed that his wife lost her mother in 2024, while discussing the personal losses that influenced his song “Al-Jannah.”
