3 killed, 9 injured in crash on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang

Three motorcyclists were killed and nine others injured in an accident involving 12 motorcycles and three cars on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang here early this morning.
Ipoh police chief Najib Hamzah said witnesses alerted police to the incident at about 3.35am.
He said an initial investigation found that all the vehicles were travelling from Meru towards Tambun when the accident occurred.

“Two male motorcyclists, aged 19 and 20, were pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining serious injuries, while another 19-year-old victim was pronounced dead at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
“Nine other male motorcyclists, aged between 19 and 25, sustained injuries of undetermined severity and were taken to the hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement.
Najib said the three car drivers were uninjured.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving.
They are appealing to those with information to contact the traffic investigation and enforcement division at the Ipoh police headquarters.
