Only 1 area with unhealthy air quality as haze clears

Translate

The haze that affected the country for nearly two months mostly cleared away this morning, with just one area in Perak recording an unhealthy air pollutant index (API) reading.

As of 8am, Seri Manjung recorded an API reading of 101, just reaching the unhealthy mark.

API readings of between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.

Most of the country recorded moderate API readings while five areas in East Malaysia – Miri, Labuan, the Miri Industrial Training Institute, Limbang and Kota Kinabalu – enjoyed good air quality.

Nevertheless, air quality in parts of West Malaysia were still near the unhealthy level, including the Klang Valley. Shah Alam recorded an API of 94, followed by Cheras (93), Klang (89) and Johan Setia (88).
