Marvel confirms cast for new ‘X‑Men’ film (VIDEO)

LOS ANGELES, Aug 15 — Marvel Studios has officially unveiled the first wave of casting for its long‑awaited X‑Men reboot, confirming a lineup that blends rising stars with established names as the mutant franchise prepares to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Announced at this year’s D23 Expo, the film — directed by Thunderbolts filmmaker Jake Schreier — will follow Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027 and mark the MCU’s first full‑scale introduction of the X‑Men.

The newly confirmed cast includes:

• Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, reprising the role after debuting in Spider‑Man: Brand New Day.
• Kit Connor as Cyclops/Scott Summers, the future leader of the team.
• Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, the telepathic mutant with a diamond form.
• Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, succeeding Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy.
• Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, one of the franchise’s most iconic villains.
• Maya Boyd as Storm, following the legacy of Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp.
• Inde Navarrette as Rogue, taking over from Anna Paquin.

The casting confirms months of speculation, much of it fueled by Sink’s surprise appearance as Jean Grey in July’s Brand New Day, which Marvel chief Kevin Feige previously hinted would serve as a narrative bridge into the new X‑Men era.

The reboot arrives after years of anticipation following Disney’s 2019 acquisition of Fox, which previously produced the original X‑Men film series beginning in 2000. Recent MCU titles — Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool & Wolverine — have already teased mutant integration, but the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (Dec. 18) is expected to make the most significant narrative push.

Several legacy actors from the Fox era will reprise their roles in Doomsday, including Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), and Channing Tatum as Gambit.

Schreier is directing from a script by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo, both of whom collaborated with him on Thunderbolts and Netflix’s Beef. The filmmaker noted that many online casting rumors were inaccurate, making the D23 reveal the first definitive confirmation of the new mutant roster.

With the MCU entering what Feige calls “a new age of mutants,” the upcoming film is positioned as one of Marvel’s most consequential projects of the decade.
