Emmerdale airs ominous new DS Ramsden scene as Tate mystery escalates

Emmerdale aired an ominous scene involving newcomer DS Thea Ramsden, with the developments coming as the Tate family found themselves in a crisis following the devastating events at the wedding.
Thursday's (27 August) episode of the ITV soap saw tragedy strike as Jimmy King crashed his car at the wedding of Dawn Fletcher and Joe Tate, with the beloved character subsequently passing away.

Tonight's instalment picked up in the aftermath of the tragic incident, with Graham Foster rushing into the marquee to save Joe. The latter was retrieved, and taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries.
Dawn, Graham and Kim headed to the hospital, but there was more drama as Dawn's waters broke. Given that wasn't due for a few months, she began to panic as she said that "something was wrong".
The nurse explained that the stress of the situation had likely precipitated Dawn going into labour, and she soon asked Kim to fetch Joe. Dawn gave birth to a baby boy, and they held their child before he was taken to the neonatal unit.
Kim then returned to the scene of the accident, and spoke with DS Ramsden about the progress of the investigation. The police had found a separate set of tracks, indicating that Jimmy had swerved out of the way of something – or someone.
As Kim proclaimed that the responsible party would have a lot to answer for, the camera panned all the way up the road, with a nervous Gabby Thomas approaching the area as she looked stunned by what had happened.
While it remains to be seen if Gabby was involved in Jimmy's accident, Ramsden's conversation with Kim also had a few interesting bits, with the police officer emphasising the importance of family.

Viewers already know that Ramsden is working with Serena Sugden to bring the Tates down, though it isn't immediately clear why they're targeting them. With this latest reference, could there be a personal angle to her vendetta?
This theme will be continued next week, when Ramsden and Serena continue to plot away. A telling flashback scene will reveal some of the reasons behind the feud, but what could they be?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
