Play-off exit 'hurts' but Peet proud of Wigan side

Matt Peet conceded that Wakefield Trinity were "far too good" for his Wigan side in Saturday's Super League play-off semi-final - but he remains "proud" of the Warriors' team and their achievements this season.

Wigan were aiming to win a second domestic treble in three years, having already lifted the Challenge Cup and League Leaders' Shield, and went into the semi-final on a run of 16 successive victories.

But Wakefield's sensational 33-6 win ended their hopes of a third trophy in 2026 and sent Trinity through to their first-ever Grand Final.

"I'm always proud of the group," Wigan head coach Peet told BBC Radio Manchester after the loss.

"We'll be disappointed with the way it's finished and the time to reflect will be in a few weeks, but I'm proud of the group.
