Euromatch NPFL: Rivers United Climb To Second After Big Win Over Kun Khalifat

Rivers United moved up to second place on the Nigeria Premier Football League ,NPFL, table after recording a convincing 5-0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC.

Salman Abubakar opened the scoring for the hosts in the 27th minute with a superb strike from outside the box.

Rivers United created several opportunities to extend their lead before the break but were unable to add to their advantage as the first half ended 1-0.

The Port Harcourt-based side, however, stepped up their performance after the interval, scoring four more goals.

Chijioke Mbaoma doubled Rivers United’s lead in the 49th minute, with Alex Oyowah providing the assist.

Abubakar then grabbed his second goal of the match nine minutes later following a fine team move to make it 3-0.

Wasiu Falolu added a fourth in the 62nd minute after being teed up by Mbaoma, before substitute Ekene Awazie completed the rout six minutes from full-time.

The emphatic victory takes Rivers United to second place with 10 points from four matches, while Kun Khalifat FC remain 19th with two points from five games.
