SEREMBAN, Oct 3 — Strengthening critical infrastructure, boosting water security and enhancing disaster preparedness are among Negeri Sembilan’s key priorities put forward for the Federal Government’s consideration in Budget 2027.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said the priorities also included measures to improve access to education and quality healthcare, while strengthening food security for the well-being of the people in the state.
Speaking to Bernama recently, he said the key priorities were identified based on the strategic importance of each project in driving economic growth, enhancing the well-being of the people and ensuring balanced development throughout the state.
On the transport sector, Ismail said road network development was essential to improving connectivity and facilitating the movement of people and goods, while providing direct access to industrial, logistics and new growth hubs.
He said Negeri Sembilan was seeking the Federal Government’s support to provide enabling infrastructure that could drive economic growth and investment while improving the well-being of the people.
Ismail said the state government was ready to work with the Federal Government through various ministries, departments and agencies to ensure the effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects and programmes for the benefit of the people.
He said Federal Government support would help lay a strong foundation for the state’s medium- and long-term development.
Detailing the needs by district, Ismail said Seremban and Port Dickson required significant infrastructure improvements to cater to rapid population growth and growing demand in the housing, industrial and mobility sectors.
As for Rembau, he said the focus was on expanding water supply capacity and improving health facilities, while Jempol would prioritise strengthening the rural economy and food security to ensure that development benefits reached all sections of society.
Ismail said the development proposals were in line with Negeri Sembilan’s long-term development plan for 2026-2035, which emphasises economic and social growth, sustainability and inclusive development.
