Govt seeks private sector push for 7 percent investment growth

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara called on the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to steer investment growth toward a 7 percent target by 2027 to help propel the national economy toward a 6 percent overall growth trajectory.

Addressing business leaders at Kadin’s National Leadership Meeting in Jakarta on Friday, Nazara highlighted that the State Budget accounts for approximately 15 percent of national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), leaving private enterprise to drive the bulk of economic expansion.

"Investment must indeed grow by 7 percent next year," Nazara said. "Members of Kadin play a crucial role in fostering this growth, as it is you who carry out these investments."

The minister explained that state fiscal policy acts primarily as a catalyst to preserve purchasing power, finance critical infrastructure, and bolster market confidence.

Alongside traditional budget allocations, Nazara cited the state investment agency Danantara as a strategic mechanism to mobilize private capital and unlock commercial opportunities.

To support these growth targets, Nazara emphasized that the government is focused on ensuring adequate liquidity, maintaining competitive financing costs, and enhancing regulatory consistency to provide long-term operational certainty for investors.
