The Hindi version of Ramayana recorded an overall occupancy of 33.96% for its 3D shows on Day 1, compared to 27.79% for the 2D format. The modest occupancy figures could be attributed to Thursday being a working day. However, footfalls and box office collections are expected to pick up over the coming days as the Diwali holidays begin.

Ramayana has done better than Shah Rukkh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs 57 crore), Animal ( Rs 63 crore), but failed to beat Jawan (Rs 75 crore) and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 (Rs 102 crore). It has failed to eclipse Prabhas-starrer Adipurush, a much criticised Ramayana adaptation.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana starring Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi Yash, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Arun Govil, Ravie Dubey, Lara Dutta and Sunny Deol, among others, has reportedly been released across more than 50,000 screens in 100 countries. Sony Pictures is handling its international distribution.
The film, planned as a two-part saga, has been made on a combined budget of Rs 4,000 crore, with the second instalment scheduled to release in 2028.
