Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Muslim faithful in Ogun State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Governor Abiodun described the occasion as an important opportunity for Muslims and all Nigerians to reflect on the exemplary life and teachings of the Prophet, particularly his virtues of compassion, humility, tolerance, justice, selflessness and peaceful coexistence.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to let the lessons of the Maulud celebration transcend religious festivities, stressing that the values demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remain relevant to the task of building a peaceful, united and prosperous society.

He said: “Eid-el-Maulud reminds us of the enduring values of love, compassion, patience, humility, justice and peaceful coexistence that characterised the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“We should use this occasion to deepen our commitment to these values and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and friendship among our people, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences.”

The governor called on religious leaders and the Muslim faithful to continue to pray for peace, stability and prosperity in Ogun State and Nigeria, while urging citizens to shun actions capable of threatening the peace and unity of the nation.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, peaceful coexistence and the continued implementation of programmes and projects aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of the people.

Abiodun also urged Muslims to extend the spirit of charity and compassion associated with the occasion to the less privileged, noting that caring for the vulnerable remains a collective responsibility.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the prayers and acts of worship of the Muslim Ummah, grant families peace and prosperity, and continue to bless Ogun State and Nigeria.

“May the blessings of this Eid-el-Maulud bring renewed hope, peace and prosperity to our people. May Almighty Allah continue to guide our leaders and grant us the wisdom and unity required to build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he prayed.
