Imtiaz Ali's daughter Ida gets engaged to Krish

Ida Ali, daughter of filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, is stepping into an exciting new phase of her life. The director has agreed to marry her longtime partner, Krish Agarwal, who popped the question on July 1 at Ytresand beach in Norway.

Following the romantic proposal, the two officially got engaged, with Imtiaz sharing the happy news via a picture on his Instagram story. No wedding date has been announced yet. Alongside this personal milestone, Ida has also stepped into filmmaking, having helmed her debut project, ‘On a Whim’.

Imtiaz posted a photo from Ida and Krish's engagement celebration, held in Mumbai. Ida looked lovely in a pastel pink ensemble, complemented by delicate jewellery, while Krish opted for a black outfit for the low-key ceremony.

As the proud father of the bride-to-be, Imtiaz extended his blessings to the newly engaged pair.

On July 12, Ida posted her proposal video on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of her ring. Speaking about the magical moment to Hindustan Times, Imtiaz shared, "It is the greatest happiness for me." He further revealed that Krish had approached him for a conversation before he proposed.

Who is Ida Ali?

The daughter of Imtiaz and Preety Ali, Ida is carving out her own path in the film industry, much like her father.

At just 17, she directed the short film 'Lift', and later went on to write the Amazon miniTV romantic drama ‘Uljhe Hue’. Her directorial credits also include the 2018 short film ‘Maya’. Beyond filmmaking, Ida launched Refresh, a digital platform centered on youth and mental health, and even gave a TEDx Talk early on about pursuing creative dreams.

She pursued her filmmaking education at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California.

Ida also co-hosts the podcast Why Are The Curtains Blue alongside comedian Kareema Barry, where the duo explore cinema and cultural narratives. Her YouTube channel bio sums up her interests simply: she enjoys to 'travel, film and eat.'

Unlike Ida, Krish doesn't belong to the film industry. The two have been in a relationship for several years and have often posted glimpses of their travels together on social media. Interestingly, Krish and Ida were in Pahalgam alongside Anurag Kashyap's daughter Aaliyah Kashyap and her husband Shane, just days before the terrorist attack took place there.
