APC wins Dawakin Kudu constituency by-election in Kano

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Hussain Yusuf-Datti, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the by-election for Dawakin Kudu constituency of Kano State.
Ibrahim Tajo-Suraj, the returning officer for the election, declared Mr Yusuf-Datti the winner of the election on Saturday in Dawakin Kudu.
Mr Ibrahim said that Mr Yusuf-Datti polled 22,890 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Habib Hamisu, of the Peoples Redemption Party, who scored 270 votes.
Mr Ibrahim further disclosed that Abdullahi Adamu of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 108 votes, while Bala Mohammed-Sani of the Action Democratic Party secured 89 votes.

He added that Aliyu Abdullahi of the All Peoples Party scored 53 votes, adding that Abubakar Yahya-Mohammed of the Labour Party had 39 votes.
“Therefore, Mr Hussain Yusuf-Datti of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and return elected,” he said.
