Police probe Kuala Pilah student's death under Section 302

SEREMBAN: Police have opened a Section 302 investigation into the death of a 14-year-old student who was found unconscious at a school hostel in Kuala Pilah last night.

Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police had held a 16-year-old boy to assist in the investigation.

"The police wish to inform that an incident involving injuries to a 14-year-old male student occurred.

"The victim was taken to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital, Seremban, and was pronounced dead," he said in a statement today.

He said preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred at about 8pm last night at one of the school hostels in the Kuala Pilah district.

"Following the incident, police immediately launched an investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code and detained a 16-year-old male student.

"Police are also examining all facts and evidence to determine the actual cause and motive of the incident," he said.

Alzafny advised the public not to speculate, spread unverified information or circulate it in a manner that could jeopardise the investigation or the privacy of the families involved.

"The police takes seriously any incident of violence involving students, particularly those resulting in loss of life.

"We urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.

"Police's priority is to ensure that the investigation is conducted professionally, thoroughly and based on evidence to ensure justice for all parties," he said.
