Billy Bush to Join Fox News as Contributor

Billy Bush, the longtime entertainment-news correspondent, is expected to join Fox News Media as a contributor, a potential sign that the outlet is growing more eager to cover the worlds of celebrity and popular culture with more depth.

Bush’s new role is expected to be unveiled Tuesday, and he is slated to appear on Fox News Channel‘s “Jesse Watters Primetime” in the 8 p.m. hour. He is expected to appear across multiple Fox News Media platforms.

Bush has covered Hollywood for years, most famously as the East Coast correspondent for “Access Hollywood,” but also as a host for “Extra.” He had a short stint as a co-host of the third hour of NBC’s “Today.” In recent years, he has gone the independent route, hosting “Hot Mics with Billy Bush,” a digital program that looks as sports, politics, entertainment, technology and popular culture. He is expected to continue with his own ventures.

Bush has grappled with notoriety and cancel culture. He found himself out of work for three years after a surreal incident in which a 2016 “Access” outtake was released showing then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump telling Bush about how he was able to sexually assault women. Information about the incident leaked from NBCUniversal and broke in The Washington Post, and Bush, who by then had moved over to NBC’s “Today,” lost his job.

Bush has covered major live entertainment events, including the Golden Globes, Grammys and Academy Awards. He covered the Olympics from 2004 to 2016 on NBC and reported live from Prince William’s wedding to Catherine Middleton for NBC News. He has made several appearances in movies and TV shows.

Bush is the nephew of the late President George H.W. Bush and the cousin of former President George W. Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
