460,771 Year Four pupils sit for first learning matrix assessment

A total of 460,771 Year Four pupils at 8,157 schools nationwide sat for the first-ever Year Four Learning Matrix (MPT4) assessment yesterday.
The assessment, which ends tomorrow, covers six core subjects: Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science, and Chinese and Tamil languages.
Examinations Syndicate director Abdul Aziz Mamat said schools could use the matrix findings and performance data to carry out targeted interventions.
"These findings will be translated into follow-up action when planning teaching and learning activities.
"These will be implemented continuously according to each pupil's needs," he said in a post on the Education Ministry's Facebook page yesterday.
Aziz added that interventions, especially for pupils who had yet to master basic skills, included guidance, reinforcement and remedial support.
They are also enrichment programmes and focused support tailored to individual needs.
"This approach allows interventions to be executed in a targeted manner," he added.
