Prince William says Charlotte and Louis are ‘obsessed’ with The Traitors plus his Taylor Swift photo regret

The Prince of Wales has revealed that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are “obsessed” with The Traitors, as he shared rare insights into family life during a surprise appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

William, appearing on a special Earthshot Prize edition of the programme alongside Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin and Hannah Waddingham, said the hit BBC reality series has become must-watch television in the Wales household.

“I love it, the family love it. Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It’s really good telly,” he said.

The future King admitted he even tested Celebrity Traitors contestant Ross Kemp’s nerves after the first episode aired.

“I saw Ross Kemp the day after the first episode and I couldn’t help but try, in the most appropriate way, to touch him to see what reaction I got from him,” William joked. “Turns out he was actually very jumpy.”

He added that he had unsuccessfully tried to persuade the actor to reveal the winner.

William also reflected on meeting Taylor Swift backstage at her record-breaking Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium last summer, saying he only later realised the significance of a photograph that went viral around the world.

The Prince posed for a selfie with Swift, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and the singer’s now-husband Travis Kelce, which marked the first image Swift shared publicly featuring the couple together.

“I hadn’t appreciated the significance,” William said. “Actually, I was trying to move him out of the photo, and he just kept coming back in.

“I kept trying to move him out, so it was just me, Taylor and the children.”

Elsewhere in the interview, William revealed that despite being one of the most recognisable people on the planet, he is still frequently mistaken for other famous faces.

Recalling a visit to Somerset, he said a man asked when he was going to perform, leaving him puzzled.

“It turned out he wanted me to sing Purple Rain, which I don’t know the lyrics for,” William laughed, after being mistaken for the late musician Prince.

The Prince also reflected on childhood ambitions beyond royal life, revealing he once dreamed of becoming a police officer before later imagining a career as a DJ.

“Then I went through a phase where I wanted to be a DJ, which didn’t go very well,” he said. “I was called DJ Xara with an X. It wasn’t good.”

In an interview with GQ this week, the Duke of Sussex said he wanted to move back to the UK to be “closer” with his family and “work out” any issues they have.

However, sources close to the Prince of Wales told The Mirror that he has shot down the possibility of smoothing things over with his brother, adding he feels deeply hurt by “many things” Harry said publicly about him and other members of the family.

The brothers have been estranged since Harry made claims about their relationship to the press after stepping away from his royal work to live in California with his wife Meghan Markle.

While his communication with his brother has been sparse, Harry has maintained contact with the King, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.

Harry told GQ: “Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out.”

He added that “scars stick around forever” but that he wants everybody to let go of the past, saying: “If there’s certain things from the past that are still affecting your every day, that’s harder to let go of.”
