India A vs New Zealand A 2nd Unofficial Test Day 4 Live Score: Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar shared nine wickets between them but India A failed to secure a first-innings lead against New Zealand A in the second unofficial Test. The hosts showed tremendous resistance from the lower order to finish their first innings with a 78-run advantage on the penultimate day.

Replying to India A's first-innings total of 346, New Zealand A were bowled out for 424. They had been struggling at 338/8 before their final two wickets added 86 valuable runs.

Siraj finished with figures of 4/118 in 35 overs, while Mukesh returned 5/87 in 29 overs.

India A reached 32 without losing a wicket in their second innings at stumps. Yashasvi Jaiswal (20 not out) and Sai Sudharsan (11 not out) saw off the remaining 11 overs of the day.

Siraj gets valuable bowling practice ahead of Test series

For India's senior team support staff, Siraj's workload at a venue where India will play the second Test against New Zealand is a big positive. The two-match Test series against the Black Caps begins on November 19.

The pacer bowled 35 overs, giving head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel plenty to be pleased about before he joins the ODI squad after this match.

Siraj looked sharp with the old ball and was particularly effective with the new ball. His pace-bowling partner Mukesh also impressed with both the first and second new balls, although he was less effective once the Kookaburra lost its shine.

India A vs New Zealand A 2nd Unofficial Test Day 4 Live Score: New Zealand A lower order frustrates India A

India A could not finish the job as New Zealand A's lower order put up a strong fight in the post-tea session.

Kristian Clarke (41), Fraser Sheat (40), Jayden Lennox (32) and Jarrod McKay (33) made useful contributions to take their team past India's total.

Akash Deep had an expensive outing, finishing with figures of 0/59 in 23 overs. Mukesh, meanwhile, found it difficult to trouble the batters once the Kookaburra lost its shine.

The five-wicket haul was Mukesh's second for India A in a SENA country. He had previously achieved the feat against Australia A in Mackay in 2024.

New Zealand A's final wicket added 55 runs before Washington Sundar (1/81 in 29.5 overs) brought the innings to an end.

Washington's off-breaks, however, lacked penetration. His performance once again highlighted how much his effectiveness as a spinner depends on the conditions.

India A vs New Zealand A 2nd Unofficial Test Day 4 Live Score: Mukesh strikes with new ball as New Zealand A lose momentum

New Zealand A slipped from 270/4 to 291/7 by tea, with Mukesh once again making good use of the new ball.

An outswinger from the Indian pacer forced Mitch Hay (31) to edge the ball to wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

Siraj then produced a superb delivery to dismiss Brett Randell (5). After bowling a few deliveries that moved away, he surprised the batter with an incoming delivery that went past him and disturbed his off-stump.

The pacer followed it up with another in-swinging delivery, pitching it further up. The ball moved back late and knocked over Randell's off-stump.

India A vs New Zealand A 2nd Unofficial Test Day 4 Live Score: Siraj removes Boyle and Foxcroft

Siraj made an immediate impact on the third morning, taking a wicket with his very first delivery of the day.

Overnight centurion Matthew Boyle (110 off 152 balls) edged a delivery that moved away after pitching. Devdutt Padikkal dived full stretch to his left to complete an excellent catch.

Boyle had earlier shared a 208-run fourth-wicket partnership with Dean Foxcroft (93 off 226 balls). Foxcroft, who earned a call-up to New Zealand's ODI squad on Monday for the final two matches against India, had spent nearly six hours at the crease.

His resistance ended after India took the second new ball. Siraj produced a sharp delivery that came back in and trapped Foxcroft in front of the stumps.
