‘She’s healing’: Rachel Kolisi’s ‘Miss Independent’ video goes viral

Rachel Kolisi, the ex-wife of Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, sang along to Ne-Yo’s hit song Miss Independent in a viral video that racked up close to six million views on social media.

In the video, Rachel’s name is seen at the back of the screen as the keynote speaker. She confidently sang and danced in front of the audience, capturing the attention of many social media users as the video currently has 2.9 million views on TikTok and 3.1 million on Instagram. Rachel is often travelling around the country for her Falling Forward Foundation, which she started after she stepped down from The Kolisi Foundation. Siya and Rachel co-founded The Kolisi Foundation together in 2020. Falling Forward is branded as a movement for women choosing courage, resilience and growth. Rachel has released both a documentary and a book through Falling Forward.

Many social media users noticed Rachel’s confidence and thought she was healing from the divorce.

Rachel previously addressed this in an interview with 947FM, stating that she kept her surname because of her kids. The author and director has two kids – Nicholas (12) and Keziah (9) with Siya.

“My children share the same surname as me, and travelling with my children, because they are brown, is already a big challenge. Sometimes I get stopped at gates and people want to double-check certain things, so it would be a really big challenge for me, so I’m keeping my surname,” she said.
