FULL LIST: Top 10 goalscorers in Europe’s top five leagues since 2020

The 2020s have produced a new generation of prolific goalscorers across Europe’s top five domestic leagues, with Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane leading a closely contested race.

Unlike the previous decade, which was largely dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, neither player features among the leading scorers of the current decade after leaving European football, according to Planet Football on Thursday

Mbappé currently sits at the top of the standings with 181 goals across the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 since the start of 2020.

Haaland is just two goals behind on 179, while Kane follows closely with 178. Robert Lewandowski completes the top four with 174 goals.

1. Kylian Mbappé – 181 goals

Mbappé has been one of the most prolific forwards in European football during the 2020s.

The France international built a large portion of his tally during his time at Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Real Madrid in 2024.

He scored 31 La Liga goals in his first season in Spain and followed that with another 25 in his second campaign, finishing as the league’s leading scorer.

Mbappé’s tally of 181 goals puts him narrowly ahead of Haaland at the top of the decade’s scoring chart.

2. Erling Haaland – 179 goals

Haaland has been remarkably prolific since arriving in Europe’s top five leagues.

He joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2020 and scored 62 Bundesliga goals in 67 appearances before moving to Manchester City.

The Norway international continued his extraordinary scoring rate in the Premier League, including a record-breaking 36-goal campaign in his first full season.

At 179 goals, Haaland is only two behind Mbappé and remains one of the leading scorers of the decade.

3. Harry Kane – 178 goals

Kane has continued his goalscoring form since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in 2023.

Before his move to Germany, the England captain enjoyed several prolific seasons in the Premier League, including a 30-goal campaign in his final season with Tottenham.

He has since scored heavily in the Bundesliga, reaching 99 league goals in 97 appearances.

His 178 goals leave him just one behind Haaland and three behind Mbappé.

4. Robert Lewandowski – 174 goals

Lewandowski remains one of the most consistent goalscorers of his generation.

The Poland international began the decade with Bayern Munich before joining Barcelona in 2022.

He continued to score regularly in Spain and won the La Liga scoring title in his first season with the Catalan club.

Now 38, Lewandowski has moved on from European football, but his 174 goals during the decade keep him comfortably inside the top four.

5. Mohamed Salah – 128 goals

Salah is the highest-ranked player on the list whose entire tally came in the Premier League.

The Egyptian forward became one of Liverpool’s most prolific players after joining the club in 2017 and continued his remarkable scoring record throughout the 2020s.

He claimed two Premier League Golden Boots during the period, including in the 2024-25 season when Liverpool won the title.

Salah finished the period with 128 league goals in the decade.

6. Lautaro Martínez – 122 goals

Martínez has been a key figure for Inter Milan throughout the decade.

The Argentine striker has consistently reached double figures in Serie A and enjoyed three consecutive 20-plus-goal seasons between 2021-22 and 2023-24.

He finished as Serie A’s leading scorer in the 2023-24 campaign and has remained one of Inter’s most important attacking players.

His 122 goals put him sixth on the list.

7. Serhou Guirassy – 103 goals

Guirassy has scored goals in both France and Germany during the 2020s.

After beginning the decade in Ligue 1, he moved to Stuttgart in 2022 and produced an impressive scoring spell in the Bundesliga.

He subsequently joined Borussia Dortmund, where he continued to find the net regularly.

The Guinea international has accumulated 103 goals across Europe’s top five leagues since 2020.

8. Jonathan David – 96 goals

David established himself as one of Ligue 1’s leading goalscorers after joining Lille in 2020.

The Canada international scored 87 league goals during his five seasons in France before moving to Juventus in 2025.

He has since continued his career in Italy, adding to his decade-long tally.

David currently has 96 goals across Europe’s top five leagues.

9. Ante Budimir – 94 goals

Budimir may be one of the less celebrated names on the list, but the Osasuna striker has been highly consistent in La Liga.

The Croatia international has reached double figures several times during the decade, including in the 2020-21, 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.

His 94 goals place him ninth among the leading scorers in Europe’s top five leagues since 2020.

10. Ollie Watkins – 91 goals

Watkins completes the top 10 with 91 goals.

The England striker became one of the Premier League’s most reliable goalscorers after joining Aston Villa in 2020.

He scored in double figures in each of his first six top-flight seasons with the club and became Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer.

His move away from the Premier League has opened the possibility of other players catching him, with Patrik Schick and Alexander Isak close behind.
