Resident Evil meets Evil Dead in a 12-episode South Korean apocalyptic horror show on Netflix that's a very easy binge. 2026 has been a big year for two major horror franchises. Evil Dead Burn premiered on July 10, and Zach Cregger's Resident Evil came around on September 18.

Evil Dead Burn received pretty good reviews, standard for the non-Raimi half of the franchise, but Resident Evil has been a mega-hit, just as Barbarian and Weapons were before it. After three films, we can probably stop acting surprised when Cregger busts out another horror phenomenon.

Both the Evil Dead franchise and the Resident Evil franchise have long delighted in the gore and violence that zombies and possessed creatures naturally bring to the table. In an era of elevated horror, Evil Dead and Resident Evil can be trusted to present mayhem and terror without even a hint of trauma.

This ability to get right to the scares has always presented problems for horror TV, where long seasons mean we almost always have to spend some time getting to understand the emotions behind the blood. It's a difficult genre to pull off on TV, but shows like All of Us Are Dead prove it can be done.

The South Korean coming-of-age apocalyptic horror, All of Us Are Dead, debuted on Netflix on January 28, 2022, with 12 episodes. Based on the webtoon by Joo Dong-geun, All of Us Are Dead follows a group of high school students who are trapped in their school building during a zombie outbreak.

All Of Us Are Dead Is Like Watching One Long Movie

All of Us Are Dead may be 12 episodes, with each running anywhere from 53 minutes to 71 minutes, but the show winds up feeling like one long movie. Because the series takes place primarily within one location, focusing on a relatively small ensemble of characters, All of Us Are Dead has the feel of a horror film.

It only takes place over a few days, and whereas most horror TV shows end up dealing with a succession of new problems that raise their head over time, the challenges facing the characters in All of Us Are Dead at the beginning of the show are generally the ones they are still attempting to overcome towards the end.

All of Us Are Dead is tightly focused throughout its 12 episodes, and the stakes continually ramp up over that time. There aren't the multiple climaxes expected of a TV show. Instead, it's a series that feels like a zombie movie has been sliced into 12 pieces, and each section stretched out for TV.

All Of Us Are Dead Is Perfect For Resident Evil Fans

Resident Evil fans should enjoy All of Us Are Dead. The zombie gore and violence are right in line with the kind of chaos the video game/movie franchise is known for. The vector of the zombie disease also feels distinctly in line with many of the Resident Evil games, with animals and other organisms not being immune either.

All of Us Are Dead also contains similar themes about military incompetence, a major issue in Resident Evil. The zombies and monsters in RE are bad enough, but the incompetence or malevolence of the military is even more dangerous. It's the same in All of Us Are Dead.
