Hollyoaks makes disturbing change to Dee Dee and Abigail grooming plot

Hollyoaks has aired a disturbing twist in the Abigail Matthews and Dee Dee Hutchison storyline, after the previous episode saw the youngster overhear that Maddox Keane doesn't consider their relationship serious.

In tonight's instalment, it was more bad news for Dee Dee as Tony chastised his kids for barely making any money working at the park kiosk. He told them they'd need to step their efforts up.

As the teens set up Rex Gallagher's memorial, Maddox came up to Dee Dee to apologise for how "cold" he'd been, but she told him: "Get lost, you don't deserve to hang around here."

He tried to grovel, saying he didn't want to come across as "too keen", but she raged at him, telling him that she felt like he had "used" her and that he was dumped.

Tempers started to flair as Ant got involved and accused her of overreaction. Abigail stepped in to calm everyone down and focus on the memorial and told Maddox to give Dee Dee some space.

As the village gathered for Rex's memorial, Abigail said some touching words — although she strangely decided to leave in a hurry once she was finished.

Later on, Dee Dee saw Abigail crying in her car and got inside to talk to her, where the newcomer spoke about how her parents used to fight. As Dee Dee talked about all the good that Abigail had done for other people, she leant in for a kiss.

Abigail instantly pulled back and told Dee Dee that she couldn't do that. After Dee Dee ran away, however, the episode ended with Abigail secretly smirking...
