Miranda Lambert Teams With Ella Langley for New Song ‘Snakeskin Boots’: ‘She & I Are Kindred Spirits’

Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert are two of the powerhouses behind Langley’s history-making song “Choosin’ Texas,” which has dominated the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 for 23 weeks, rewriting the record for the longest run ever earned atop the chart.

Now, in support of Lambert’s upcoming Oct. 2 album Crisco, the two musical dynamos are joining forces again. They are collaborators on the album’s opening song, “Snakeskin Boots.” The vintage-Western style track will premiere at country radio the same day the album arrives.

“Snakeskin Boots,” produced by Lambert and Jesse Frasure, draws from similar wells of perspective as Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang,” as well as the legendary vibes of Studio 54, and etches a scene of a woman who is set to make her escape.

“We wrote ‘Snakeskin Boots’ with Ella in mind. She and I are kindred spirits, and when we were working on her album, I realized how many retro influences we share,” Lambert said in statement. “To me, this song is kind of Thelma and Louise if they didn’t drive off the cliff. It’s two badass women getting away with something, and she’s the perfect partner for that.”

“Snakeskin Boots” is the latest song Lambert has revealed ahead of her upcoming album, Crisco. The album also houses the Chris Stapleton collaboration “A Song to Sing” as well as the title track “Crisco” and “Til the Going’s Gone.”

Lambert and Langley also previously teamed up on “Butterfly Season” from Langley’s Dandelion album, while Lambert also cowrote and coproduced “Choosin’ Texas.” Meanwhile, “Choosin’ Texas” has earned multiple nominations at the upcoming CMA Awards, including single of the year and song of the year. Langley has nine nominations heading into the November awards show, while Lambert is up for seven accolades.
