Narco kingpin Navpreet Singh deported from Türkiye to India

Following his return to India, Singh was formally taken into custody

Indian intelligence and law enforcement agencies have secured the deportation of notorious narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye, striking a major blow against international illicit drug networks operating across foreign borders.Union home minister Amit Shah said in a post on X that Modi govt had achieved a historic milestone by securing the deportation of hardened narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye."Obtaining Turkish citizenship under the fake identity of Navab Virk, he had continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine to India from Afghanistan. Our agencies tracked him down, ripping apart veil after veil to unmask his true identity, and secured his deportation," Shah said.

"Today he has been brought back to India and put behind bars in connection with cases involving drug trafficking and other crimes he is accused of. Congratulations to all the agencies for this success. Modi govt is committed to destroying every narco-cartel before Dec 2029," the post added.

According to officials, Singh had been orchestrating extensive cross-border trafficking operations, funneling large consignments of heroin and synthetic drugs from Afghanistan into key regions across India.

Despite concealing his identity under fraudulent credentials and foreign nationality, Indian security agencies systematically peeled back his operational cover to pinpoint his location and coordinate with Turkish authorities for his extradition.Following his return to India, Singh was formally taken into custody and will face multiple charges related to transnational drug trafficking, criminal conspiracy, and organized crime.
