Paris Saint-Germain attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia underwent a successful surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the club announced on Tuesday.

The Georgian attacker, who finished sixth in Monday’s Ballon d’Or, underwent surgery in Doha, and will commence his recovery which is expected to take roughly six months.

Kvaratskhelia suffered the injury in PSG’s Champions League victory over Barcelona last week, which the French side won 4-2..

His entourage told AFP last week that “it was difficult” to discuss a return date.
