5 Emmerdale spoilers for tonight as Jacob is left devastated

Emmerdale spoilers follow from Monday's episode (14 September), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn't aired on ITV1 yet.

In tonight's episode of Emmerdale, Jacob's life changes forever as he finds out what Sarah and Charity have been hiding from him.

Elsewhere, Charity's prison struggles take a worrying new turn.

1. Charity is drawn into prison drama

Charity is startled when the prison is put into lockdown amid suspicions that someone is dealing drugs among the inmates. Her cellmate – who seems to know an awful lot about what's going on – sternly orders Charity to keep quiet.

When it's time to inspect Charity's cell, a bag of drugs is found stashed away. Charity's horrified as she's caught up in the consequences of her cellmate's wrongdoing.

2. Charity faces painful reminders of her ordeal

The prison guards insist on carrying out a full-body search to find out whether Charity is hiding drugs.

Although Charity initially cooperates, she's soon plagued by reminders of her ordeal with Dr Todd and she suffers a panic attack. With the situation escalating, Charity is placed into segregation.

3. Chas takes control

Mack complains about the Dingles' inaction following Sarah's decision to throw Charity under the bus with her recent police statement. Realising that something must be done, Chas calls a family meeting to deal with the situation once and for all.

Sarah is put under pressure as Chas and Mack take the lead in confronting her over her treatment of Charity. Mack goes a step further by threatening to tell Jacob everything if Sarah doesn't withdraw her statement.

4. Jacob hears the truth

Sarah decides that she can't let Jacob hear the truth from Mack, so she sits him down and tells her husband everything. She begins by explaining the truth about how Dr Todd died – then shares the shocking story behind Leyla's parentage.

Jacob is devastated to learn that Leyla isn't biologically his – will this affect how he sees her moving forward?

5. Sarah faces a big decision

Sarah faces a backlash from all directions, as Jacob turns against her for keeping secrets, and Mack reveals how much Charity is struggling in prison thanks to her.

Will any of this be enough to convince Sarah to save Charity before it's too late?
