Ministry and Peter Hook Contribute to Captain Beyond Tribute Album Thousand Days of Yesterdays

Translate

Ministry and former New Order bassist Peter Hook have been announced as contributors to a Captain Beyond tribute album, Thousand Days of Yesterday, due out November 20th.

The album sees the entirety of Captain Beyond’s 1972 self-titled debut album covered in full by a bevy of artists across its 13 tracks and 6 CD-exclusive bonus tracks.

While Ministry and Peter Hook contribute two additional versions of opening song “Dancing Madly Backwards (On A Sea of Air)” as bonus tracks on the CD edition, the full list of contributors includes doom metal legends Pentagram, progressive rock stalwarts The Flower Kings, Hawkwind maestro Nik Turner, and Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson among many, many more.

Founder and drummer Bobby Caldwell said of the band before his passing, “As a kid I was into jazz, and I thought ‘wow, maybe if I could find the right people, I could do this, and I could create something that’s unpredictable, a little bit different to the norm, where you can’t tell where it’s going necessarily.”

Captain Beyond was a supergroup initially formed by members of Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, and the Johnny Winter Group. Their debut self-titled album fused hard rock and progressive rock, delivering three lengthy epics broken up into movements alongside two smaller tracks.

Thousand Days of Yesterday is currently available for pre-order on CD, vinyl, and digital.
