Jogger chased, stabbed by allegedly drunk man in Mangaldan, Pangasinan

A man out for an early morning jog in Mangaldan, Pangasinan found himself running for his life from a knife-wielding butcher.

In Jasmien Gabriel Galban’s report on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Thursday, CCTV footage showed the suspect chasing and stabbing the victim along a road in Barangay Poblacion at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

After the suspect was arrested, he claimed he was facing problems and that his mind suddenly went blank.

When the suspect caught up with the jogger, he stabbed him several times, hitting the victim on the torso.

Police said the victim, a tricycle driver, was out jogging when he saw the suspect who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

P/Lieutenant Colonel Perlito Tuayon, chief of the Mangaldan Police Station, the two men got into an argument after the victim took offense with something the suspect said to him.

The victim got hold of a pipe which he used to hit the suspect, who left the scene.

The suspect then returned with a knife and ran after the victim.

Follow up operations resulted in the butcher’s arrest who admitted to his actions that led to a complaint of frustrated homicide. He asked forgiveness from the victim.

Efforts are being made to get a comment from the victim. —RF, GMA News
