Pokémon Fans Split Over Horrifying Ghost-Type Eeveelution

James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.

Pokémon is full of weird and wonderful creations, and the famous old adage is that there will always be someone out there who has a particular 'mon as their favorite. Sure, there are millions of Pikachu, Gengar, Charizard, and Mew fans out there, but there will also be at least one who can't get enough of Trubbish or Klefki.

On the opposite end of the scale to the Garbadors of this world are the Eeveelutions, all of whom remain very popular for fans of both the video games and TCG. As such, there are always lots of requests for the developer to release a new one, each time we take a big step into another generation.

Now, that time has come again, and one fan thinks they have come up with a great idea for the next logical step for Eevee.

In case you missed it, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company confirmed that Winds and Waves will serve as the first games of the tenth generation, as part of the franchise's 30th anniversary celebrations. That news was met with understandable excitement from fans, many of whom thought it could be the perfect time to add another Eeveelution to proceedings.

That said, there are only a limited number of options available right now within the current typing systems, with many already taken up by existing evolutions. Over on Reddit, one user thinks they may have identified the next logical step in Zombeon, a Ghost-type Eeveelution who technically serves as a member of the undead.

The description for the Fakemon reads as follows:

"Eevee evolves into Zombeon after being revived from fainting. Its body begins to decay, yet it refuses to stop moving, driven by an instinct it no longer understands."

It's certainly the bleakest Eeveelution we have seen to date, but it is genuinely quite cute considering a portion of its brain is on show. As you might expect, the gathered masses were also quick to weigh in with their thoughts.

"SUPER nice take on a ghost-type evolution for Eevee. Everyone always wants to go incorporeal with it so it can still look cute and approachable and marketable. You aren't a REAL Eevee fan until you are willing to hug its smelly rotted corpse and still earnestly tell it that you love it," one comment read.

"I think having it be based on revive might be too easy to get? Could get annoying. Maybe have it faint multiple times in one battle instead? Or maybe not, I'm thinking of my last playthrough and I tend to go through revives a lot in the endgame," another added.

While a third said, "Love this take! I think having it evolve via revive after fainting while only being able to use struggle would be a good gimmick. Struggle always reminds me of the shambling gait zombies have."

The unfortunate reality is that, despite all of the leaks we have seen so far, it doesn't appear as though we'll be getting a new Eeveelution in Pokémon Winds and Waves. Let's just hope all the new creations we do inevitably get, hit the right mark.
