Prada SS27 was an ode to the skirt – here's where to shop on the high street

On Tuesday, Prada kicked off Milan Fashion Week with a show to remember. Their Spring/Summer 27 collection served as the skirt mood board for the season.

And their emphasis on that one specific classic hyperfeminine trope has everyone talking. There was not a trouser in sight as the show gave us a selection of 63 skirts.

The show opened with a song by Malcolm McLaren, Madam Butterfly, and then out came the first look: a futuristic-looking cigarette skirt paired with a lace bra. After that, we were shown an array of styles from leather to see-through organza to sparkling embellished skirts. Miuccia Prada even took her bow in a skirt.

The colour palette for the SS27 collection favoured vivid colours of yellow, green and pink but counterpaired them with classic greys and blacks.

While the attention is currently all on Prada, there were many standout skirts in collections at London Fashion Week. Burberry, Labrum and Mulberry all had midi skirts featured throughout their shows.
