STEPHEN POLLARD: Trust earned through decades of fair reporting is being eroded bit by bit

If I was to take a wild guess as to the newspaper of choice in BBC offices and school staff rooms, I'd get no prize for pointing to The Guardian.

And no doubt, these two hotbeds of liberalism are cock-a-hoop with the corporation's educational arm for creating BBC Bitesize.

For, as today's Mail on Sunday investigation clearly reveals, it is little more than a propaganda vehicle for a series of Leftist maxims.

On some of the most controversial issues of our time, such as migration, Net Zero and inequality, BBC Bitesize seeks to brainwash young minds into thinking there is only one 'correct' stance – the liberal position that is the corporation's default viewpoint.

On mass immigration, no quarter is given to the view that it has fractured communities, drained public services and lowered GDP per head of population – only a glowing endorsement of open borders, something that Bitesize is apparently 'excited' by.

Trust me, there's nothing exciting about an immigration system that allows criminals, terrorists and Islamist fanatics into the country unchecked.

This would be alarming enough appearing as a study aid for university students, but this Bitesize material is aimed at 11- to 14-year-olds.

At this age, young minds are impressionable, they take their cues from authority, and what could be more authoritative in a world of social media slop than the British Broadcasting Corporation?

The BBC was accused of 'brainwashing' children after a Mail on Sunday investigation revealed its education website is pushing 'extreme' Left-wing views

The BBC won this status over many decades through its commitment to honest, fair reporting, but Bitesize is now abusing it to indoctrinate the next generation into the Leftist causes of the corporation's adult executives. Frankly, it's creepy.

And it's unfathomable that this blinkered, liberal rot is taught to children, when schools themselves are subject to strict impartiality rules.

Under the Education Act of 1996, schools 'must prohibit the promotion of partisan political views' and 'should take steps to ensure the balanced presentation of opposing views on political issues'.

Yet the BBC, which itself is supposed to honour a code of impartiality, is left free to re-shape society into its Greta Thunberg-friendly image, one Bitesize quiz at a time.
