Released July 30 via DANSA, the song reaches the summit thanks to a 28% increase in plays at the format in the Oct. 2-8 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The trio previously topped Dance Airplay with “Wait So Long” (for one week in 2025), “Don’t You Worry Child,” featuring John Martin (16 weeks, 2012-13), and “Save the World” (seven weeks, 2011).

“Happiness Is So Sad” became the group’s 15th career entry on the chart when it debuted in August. Individually, Sebastian Ingrosso has logged 13 songs on the list (either solo or as half of Axwell & Ingrosso), while Axwell has charted 14 (also either solo or with Axwell & Ingrosso) and Steve Angello has notched four solo.

The track also marks the first Dance Airplay No. 1 for DANSA, Swedish House Mafia’s independent label. The group’s first two leaders were released via Astralwerks/Capitol Records, while “Wait So Long” was via SUPERHUMAN, also an independent label of the act’s.

Concurrently, “Happiness Is So Sad” tallies a seventh consecutive week at No. 1 on the WARM Global Dance Radio chart, which tracks plays from more than 200 dance-focused radio stations worldwide.

The song additionally earns Lykke Li her first No. 1 on any U.S. Billboard chart. The fellow Swedish artist has landed three albums on the Billboard 200 in her career: So Sad So Sexy (No. 173, 2018), I Never Learn (No. 29, 2014) and Wounded Rhymes (No. 36 2011).

All charts dated Oct. 24 will update Tuesday, Oct. 20, on Billboard.com.
