Dogo Blames Missed Scoring Opportunities For Niger Tornadoes Defeat To Katsina United

Kabiru Dogo, Niger Tornadoes Head Coach, has heaped the blame of his team’s 1-0 defeat to Katsina United in Saturday’s EuroMatch/NPFL matchday four clash on his team’s profligacy in front of goal, Completesports.com reports.

Tornadoes got their 2026/2027 season to a flying start with a 2-1 win against Enyimba. But their winning start was punctured by Kano Pillars with a 3–2 defeat before a 1-1 draw against Plateau United before Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by The Chanji Boys.

Garba Abdulrahman’s 21st minute strike proved decisive as Katsina United held on tenaciously to snatch all the three maximum points in the fixture, their first win of the 2026/2027 EuroMatch/NPFL season, having drawn 1-1 against Rangers and lost 0-3 to Kwara United in previous early season fixtures.

With four points from a maximum nine, Katsina United still have a game in hand, with their matchday two fixture against Rivers United postponed following the Pride of Rivers involvement in the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League duties.

Dogo told reporters after the showpiece at Mohammed Dikko Stadium that his team must improve on their goal convertion in subsequent matches.

“This is what happens in football when you don’t take your chances,” Dogo lamented during the post-match press conference.

“They (Katsina United) got their chance and utilised it, but we had even clearer scoring opportunities but couldn’t convert any of them.

“Sometimes, you can attribute this to ill luck, but we need to improve, particularly in terms of taking our chances.

“Overall, it was a very good game from both sides,” Dogo, a former Akwa United gaffer submitted.

Niger Tornadoes, with four points,xwill welcome Warri Wolves in next weekend’s matchday five fixture.
