Translate

A child has been hospitalised following an alleged racially motivated attack in a park south of Brisbane over the weekend.

Police said the child, whose age was not disclosed, was physically and verbally assaulted by a group of people at a park on Tivoli Avenue in Greenbank between 5.30pm and 6.20pm on Saturday evening.

The group then made offensive remarks to the child.

The child was injured and taken to hospital for treatment following the attack.

Police could not confirm how many people were in the group, or any distinguishing features of those involved in the incident.

On Sunday morning, police attended a property on East Sentinel Drive that had been vandalised in another suspected racially motivated attack.

Police said sometime between midnight and 9am, unknown persons spray-painted the exterior of the house with offensive language and prohibited symbols.

A police spokesperson could not confirm whether the incidences are linked but urged anyone with information to come forward and contact authorities.
