The Terminal List confirms new adaptation for franchise - but will it be focus of season 3 or a spin-off?

Following The Terminal List season 2’s premiere, Prime Video has confirmed the franchise's next adaptation - but with a big question mark.

The streamer has confirmed it will adapt Savage Son, the third novel in Jack Carr's bestselling series, in a new show, which will once again star Pratt as Navy SEAL Commander, James Reece.

But what the streamer hasn’t revealed is whether the new show will serve as the third season of the series or become a separate entity within the franchise, like the prequel The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.

Dark Wolf, which premiered in 2025, focused primarily on Taylor Kitsch's character, Ben Edwards, and also saw the returns of Pratt as Reece and Shaw as Boozer.

The original series launched in 2022.

It returned last month with a second season, which is based on Carr's second novel, True Believer, and follows Pratt's Reece as he "battles unknown conspiratorial forces seeking to upend the world order" and traverses across the Indian Ocean, Southern and Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, where he "uncovers a conspiracy that reaches from Moscow to Langley and ties into his own family's history".

Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings, Constance Wu as Katie Buranek, Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq and Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry returned, while newcomers to the cast included Gabriel Luna as Freddy Stain.

"This season is a love letter to the special operations community," Pratt, who also serves as executive producer, previously said of season 2.

He continued in a statement: "I’m incredibly proud of the journey we went on and what we were able to put on screen. It was a monumental effort by a lot of people over the course of many years, and I think you can feel that commitment in every frame.

"Yes, it's an action thriller, but there's also real beauty and poetry in it. At its heart, this season is dedicated to the men and women who do this work—the people who operate in the shadows, make extraordinary sacrifices, and rarely ask for recognition. We wanted to honour them and get it right. I couldn’t be more proud of what we made."

Dark Wolf is available to watch on Prime Video.
