BBC confirms new Strictly spin-off series to air after every Sunday results show

Strictly Come Dancing fans have a new reason to stay on the sofa after Sunday's results.

Just after the excitement of last weekend's anticipated launch show, the BBC has now announced Strictly: Lights Up, a spin-off streaming exclusively on BBC iPlayer immediately after each Sunday results show.

The new series offering comes as part of the biggest range of Strictly programming the broadcaster has ever offered and is set to give us a boots-on-the-ground insight into the emotions right after each week's elimination.

Hosted by comedian Abi Clarke and presenter and Strictly alum Tyler West, Lights Up will take viewers straight onto the dance floor for immediate reactions from the night's eliminated couple, their dance-off opponents, the judges, the new hosts and other Strictly stars and studio guests.

The show kicks off on iPlayer on Sunday 4 October, when the first of this year's celebrity couples will be eliminated from the competition.

Strictly may have returned this weekend with its launch show, but it's only set to get more exciting as it goes live this Saturday night on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

West is a familiar face to Strictly viewers, having reached the later stages of the 2022 series with professional partner Dianne Buswell before his elimination after the Blackpool special.

He presents on Kiss, where he has fronted Kiss Breakfast, and continues to work across radio and television, more recently also appearing in BBC's Celebrity Race Across the World.

As for Clarke, she is a stand-up comedian who has built a large following on TikTok, recently appearing on an episode of Race Across the World: The Detour, the BBC Sounds podcast, alongside West. She describes herself as a Strictly super fan so it seems as though Lights Up is in very safe hands.

The series is the centrepiece of a wider push around the show online, with it being announced that iPlayer will also be launching a new dedicated Strictly hub, featuring all things Strictly including a range of new exclusives.

There will be new weekly training room episodes, where Abi visits different Strictly couples in rehearsals, as well as a new weekly highlights show to round-up the week of Strictly Come Dancing.

It's also been confirmed that for those wishing to relive specific routines, every single dance of the series will be available to watch individually whenever you want. For the first time ever, each episode of Strictly Come Dancing will also have the option to scroll through in chapters, which allows viewers to scroll right to their favourites and revisit specific moments.

On the announcement of Lights Up, Sarah James, senior executive producer for BBC Studios, said: "With Strictly's iPlayer audience growing year-on-year, this is the perfect time to announce a range of new exclusives that will bring viewers closer to Strictly than ever before.

"Hosted by the brilliant Abi and Tyler, Lights Up will be a post-results show like no other, taking you straight on to the Strictly dance floor for all of the immediate reaction that previously remained unseen."

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at Saturday 26 September 2026. Strictly: Lights Up is available to stream on BBC iPlayer from Sunday 4 October 2026.
