Tricia Helfer Stars in Erotic Body Horror ‘Devour’ (Exclusive)
Former Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer has nabbed the lead role in director Erica Orofino’s erotic body horror pic Devour.
Helfer, also known as Charlotte Richards in Lucifer, plays Luisa, a former professional figure skater facing compulsions she cannot control as she becomes dangerously fixated on Karla, her daughter’s friend played by Georgia Bradner (Ghosts, Resident Alien). A forbidden attraction then becomes an obsession and a self-destructive unravelling of Luisa’s life in increasingly terrifying and transgressive ways, according to a synopsis from the producers, Wildling Pictures.
Elizabeth Adams plays Luisa’s daughter, Elia in the horror film also written by Orofino. “I loved how dark and psychological the story was. Erica wasn’t afraid to go there, and that’s what made me want to be part of it,” Helfer said of her role in a statement.
Helfer also starred as supermodel living a perfect life with her family until a health scare in Ziad H. Hamzeh’s drama Hello Beautiful feature that adapts cancer survivor Christine Handy’s best-selling novel Walk Besides Me, and has a co-starring role in USA Network‘s Anna Pigeon series.
Erica Orofino added in her own statement: “I wanted to make a film about self-identity, female sexuality and desires that exist outside our dominant norms or moral codes. I curated this cast carefully and I’m grateful this team came together in the way that it did. Tricia was a dream to direct. She will grip your heartstrings and your guts and not let go. Elizabeth and Georgia are going to blow you away.”
Matt Code, Alison Almeida and Lucy McNulty are producing Devour, while Todd Brown, Kiersten Hanly, Emily O’Quinn Code, Mike Chapman and Fatima Hayward share the executive producer credits. Blue Finch Films is handling worldwide sales, excluding Canada.
Wildling Pictures’ recently brought the thriller Phreaker to Fantastic Fest and earlier releases include the romantic comedy Young Werther starring Alison Pill, Douglas Booth, Iris Apatow and Patrick J. Adams, and the thriller See For Me.
