Aman clinched gold in the men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling event at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya after defeated DPR Korea’s Han Chong Song in the final.
This is Aman’s second Asaid medal, having won bronze in the same category at the Hangzhou 2022 edition.
The bout was a closely-fought affair, with both players deadlocked early on. However, Aman was able to claim the first points of the match to enter the lead.
He seized the advantage after a delay due to injury, and charged into a 6-1 lead in next to no time.
However, another injury break for the North Korean helped him turn the momentum around and he had soon ascended into the lead after pinning Aman in quick succession.
However, with less than a minute to go, Aman managed pin and turn his opponent to claim the slender but telling lead.
This is India’s second medal in freestyle wrestling at this games, after Sujeet Kalkal’s gold yesterday, and its fourth overall.
