Abema Selects Project PRISMation's 1st Open Call Finalists to Make 3 Pilot Anime
The Japanese streaming service ABEMA announced the three finalists from the first open call in its "Project PRISMation" for independent animators on Friday. The three selected entries will each receive production funding for a short original anime pilot slated for next year or later.

The three selected entries are:
"OXY-HEAVEN"
Synopsis: Eden, a colossal ship-nation, is booming with postwar reconstruction. In a quiet corner stands the cafe OXY HEAVEN, where a former doctor turned proprietor mends the hearts of wounded souls with a cup of coffee and a healthy dose of meddling. A fantasy ensemble drama set in a steampunk world.
ABEMA describes creator Waboku as an "animation artist and illustrator. Known for a distinctive directorial style built on decadent, atmospheric worlds and a keen sense of timing. Has directed numerous music videos, including Eve's 'As You Like It' and ZUTOMAYO's 'Byoushin wo Kamu.'"
"Amneka"
Synopsis: In a small school far from anywhere, six students and one teacher live together. Amneka, a young girl, tries to live peacefully alongside her colorful classmates, but a secret she herself does not know begins to quietly unsettle their everyday life. A fantasy comedy set in a small school.
ABEMA describes creator orange as "an up-and-coming filmmaker. Grew up watching and falling in love with short animation, and came to want to make works of their own. Enjoys taking walks and riding buses and trains when they are nearly empty. Aims to create work that holds on to the small ideas that surface in everyday life and the sensations that are hard to forget."
"Kandy-Killers for Hire"
Synopsis: In an absurd neon city where murder has become a commercial industry, Kandie runs a scrappy assassination startup. When the corporate murder conglomerate ASASU pushes her business to the brink of bankruptcy, she ropes in her best friends Poppy and Gumi for a desperate, blood-soaked marketing campaign. A psycho-pop dark comedy.
ABEMA describes creator Dominique Garrow as "a freelance illustrator from the United States with a deep passion for the cute, the creepy, and the crazy! Inspired by anime and manga from early childhood, she has since become an independent illustrator and animator, creating works within the VTuber community across various platforms. Beginning production as a fourth-year high school student, she strives to improve every single day. She hopes to combine her experiences as an internet artist, film student, and lover of all things moe to begin building memorable, imaginative worlds of her own."
ABEMA held the open call from this past May to August. In addition to producing each anime pilot, ABEMA "will support each work on its way to audiences worldwide, from project development, Japanese and English voice casting, sound and music arrangements, and translation to promotion and commercial development."
Project PRISMation is a collaboration with various creators, primarily individuals or small teams who produce web animation, to create original anime pilot films. The name Prismation comes from "Prism" and "Animation," and it "symbolizes a space where diverse talents converge to shine brightly."

The "Project PRISMation" also released the "Gluttomy" pilot work by rapitus from Vietnam on January 23, and "The Horrors' Horror Home" pilot by creator Uguisu Kobo, director Rushio Moriyama, and writer Yūya Matsuzaki from Japan on January 30.
The project also announced its second round of pilots on September 19. It plans to release the pilots for Miou Hiruma's "The Chatty Jewel and the Phantom Thieves," Yū Satō's "SALON de MONDE," and Fantasy Restaurant Kani's 'LAMPMOSS COFFEE" next month.
